How To Do Your Laundry in 5 Easy Steps

Households always have lots of laundry weekly.

Here are five simple steps to make sure your laundry is done like a pro.

1. Sort Laundry by:

Colour: Separate piles into dark colours, similar bright colours, light colours, and whites.

Fabric: It is best to separate heavy fabrics, such as corduroy or permanent press, from delicate fabrics, such as laces and silk.

Soil Content: Heavily soiled clothes are to be washed separately from lightly soiled clothes.

*Note: Make sure you empty all pockets, close buttons and zippers.

2. Wash at in right temperature

The general rule is cold water for bright colours and hot water for whites. Read care labels on clothes for more instruction.

3. Pre-treat Stains

To remove stains, pre-treat them before washing

-Apply a small amount of detergent directly on soiled area

-Rub lightly

-Wash straight away

4. Add detergent

Approximately ¼ cup for each small to medium size load. The amount of detergent depends on load size and the degree of soiling and grease in the clothes.

5. Boost Your Cleaning Power

Laundry detergents have a big job to do, but if you want a little more cleaning power, these additives work with your detergent to help out:

Chlorine Bleach and Colour Boosters: Bleach works to boost the whitening power, and the colour boosters are colour-safe bleach that brightens coloured garments.
